Russia's new tram is a Batmobile on the outside, tech hub on the inside

Uralvagonzavod's Russia One commuter train
Many trams are memorable, but they tend to evoke nostalgia rather than embrace the future. You can't accuse UralVagonZavod (UVZ) of being behind the times with its new Russia One, though. To begin with, it looks like the Batmobile on a closed track -- and for good reason. The forward-tilted windshield helps the conductor spot pedestrians, while the glass composite panels are easy to replace. The tram is cutting-edge on the inside, too. Dynamic LED lighting and music change the cabin mood to suit the time of day. You'll also find positioning (GPS and GLONASS), air conditioning, anti-bacterial hand rails and WiFi. The driver even gets a USB 3.0 port that can keep a phone powered up.

Don't count on hopping aboard one of these mass transit marvels when they go into production, which should be sometime in 2015. As the Russia One name implies, this machine is partly about national pride; UVZ believes the vehicle will primarily be used in major Russian cities. Exports to Eastern Europe and South America aren't more than possibilities at this stage. Nonetheless, it's a big step forward for a form of public transportation that doesn't get a lot of love -- and it's probably the first tram that would make Bruce Wayne proud.

Improving Distance For Golf Games

In golf games, distance is vital. Luckily, there are only two main factors involved when you play golf: ball contact and clubhead speed. However, both have to be right in order to hit the ball a good distance. So, how does each come into play?
The Club Head Speed
Maintaining the correct speed involves three main elements concerning speed:
* how fast your body rotates;
* how fast your arm swings;
* and how fast and soon your hand releases.
All of these are connected: your leg drive controls how quickly your body rotates which in turn plays a part in how quickly your arm will swing. In terms of hand release, this is decided by how relaxed your arm and hand muscles are as well as your overall focus.
There are a number of ways you can hone these areas for golf games in order to have more control:
* Make sure to turn your legs and hips towards your goal in order to start the swing. The movement and strength at which you do this is important.
* The upper part of your body is a transmitter only. Arm strength is not a major factor in how fast the clubhead moves.
* You should only use approximately 80% of your strength. As strange as it may seem, if you use more you might end up hitting the ball less far than you'd hoped.
The Ball Contact
Next, ball contact: in order to give your ball an upward lift you have to hit it at a downward angle when using a fairway woods or irons. This works because you're then able to utilize the loft of the club to launch your golf ball. This increases the distance due to the fact that when you strike your ball with strength downwards the ball is compressed and so releases more energy. It can then move a greater way down the course.
Aim for the bottom region of the ball or even a small way in front of it. This ensures that the clubhead is moving through the last part of its descending arch when it hits the ball.
Don't be tempted to scoop the ball upwards in golf games: not only will the distance be less but there's more chance that you'll miss.
However, there's one exception in golf games when you use an upward swing: hitting the driver off the tee. Firstly, this is because it's harder in this scenario to lift the ball up due to the fact that the driver is unable to provide much loft. The second reason is that with a driver it's harder to get rid of spin which occurs during compression due to the fact that it doesn't contain many grooves.
Golf games online can be used not only for fun but as a way to improve your skills. There are a number of free golf games available to suit all levels.
